The reason to forgive is for your own sake. For our own health. Because beyond that point needed for healing, if we hold on to our anger, we stop growing and our souls begin to shrivel. ~ M. Scott Peck
Below you will find the denial, forgiveness/release, and affirmation I created concerning the negative core belief I would like to give up (release) and the Truth (affirmation) I would like to replace it with concerning my health – emotional, mental, or physical.
Denial: I deny the power that I once gave to shutting down my emotions.
Forgiveness/Release: I forgive myself for shutting down emotionally.
Affirmation: I accept my healthy emotional self.
Compassion and tolerance are not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength. ~His Holiness the Dalai Lama
Try doing this exercise yourself, either use my example above to generate ideas, or simply allow your own Inner Guide to inspire what you need to let go of and what you would like to claim in the way of health – emotional, mental, or physical.
What belief about myself and/or others can I deny, release/forgive, and affirm in order to experience the shift I desire in my emotional, mental, and physical health?
Using a finger labyrinth or a walking labyrinth if you have one available to you:
- Repeat over and over again either the denial or the forgiveness statement as you “walk” toward the center.
- In the center, give yourself praise and blessings for being willing to do this hard work.
- As you “walk” toward the outside of the labyrinth, say the affirmation.
We are not necessarily doubting that God will do the best for us; we are wondering how painful the best will turn out to be. ~ C. S. Lewis
